Our History
Marayong South Public School has been an important part of the local community since it opened in 1962, during a period of rapid growth in the Marayong and Blacktown area. As the suburb expanded in the 1960s, new schools were established to support the increasing number of families moving into the area.
The suburb of Marayong itself takes its name from the nearby Marayong railway station, which opened in October 1922. The area was originally part of Quakers Hill, but was recognised as its own suburb in 1926 as the community continued to grow.
In its early years, the area surrounding the school was largely semi-rural, with market gardens, poultry farms and open land. During the 1960s and 1970s, the region experienced significant residential development, bringing new families into the community and increasing enrolments at local schools.
Since its establishment, Marayong South Public School has provided quality education for students from Kindergarten to Year 6, building a strong reputation for supporting students’ academic growth, wellbeing and independence. The school works closely with families and the wider community to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where every student is encouraged to achieve their best.
Today, the school continues to evolve while remaining deeply connected to its community. With a focus on high-quality teaching, student wellbeing and strong partnerships with parents and carers, Marayong South Public School remains committed to preparing students for lifelong learning and future success.
